RRM Placement Providers are listed below by Hospital and Health Service region. Click on the provider name to navigate to their profile, which also includes accommodation and travel information and student testimonials.

In 2026, MEDI7300 RCU students only will undertake a rural clinical immersion.

In 2026, all MEDI7400 students (GBCU, Ochsner and RCU) may undertake rural placements in:

Rural Clinical Extension
GP in a Rural Location (GPiRL)
Extended Placement Program (EPP) - Clinical Extension and GP in same location
Personal Learning & Development term (PLD) - very limited opportunities, see Placements tab

Please note that not all placement locations are available in each placement block.

Students are encouraged to review the Safe Rural Travel Guidelines prior to commencing travel for rural Intro Week and Placement.

Year 3 - MEDI7300 Rural Clinical Immersion sites

For Year 3 MEDI7300 Clinical Immersion (RCS students only) in 2026, the following sites will be used:

Capricorn Coast Hospital and Health Clinic - can take 2 students
Charleville Hospital and Health Clinic - can take 2 students
Emerald Hospital - can take 2 students
Gatton Hospital - can take 2 students
Gladstone Hospital - can take up to 4 students
Maryborough Hospital - can take up to 3 students
Roma Hospital - can take 2 students
Theodore Multi-Purpose Health Service and Medical Centre - can take 2 students

Year 4 - MEDI7400 Rural Clinical Extension, EPP and GPiRL sites are shown below:

In 2026, MEDI7400 students may undertake rural placements in:

Rural Clinical Extension
GP in a Rural Location (GPiRL)
Extended Placement Program (EPP) - Clinical Extension and GP in same location:
- Chinchilla
- Dalby
- Kingaroy
- Roma
- St George

Please note that any EPP placements not allocated will be returned to the preferencing pool for either GPiRL or Rural Extension. All EPP sites should be able to take 2 students depending on availability, with placement order GP/RRM and RRM/GP.

The 2026 EPP and GPiRL application, which opened on 7 July and closes on 18 July, gives rurally interested students the chance to preference the block they would like to complete a rural placement in, and applicants will be notified of the outcome on the 28 July. The outcomes of this process will help inform your Term Order & Clinical Extension Pathway during preferencing (open 4-8 August) and be prioritised in the allocation process.

Successful EPP applicants will be contacted to discuss and confirm EPP placement site availability and preferences in July and successful GPiRL applicants will preference GP rural locations between the 8-15 September.
