The Mimosa Medical Clinic works in conjunction with the Woorabinda Multipurpose Health Service to provide exceptional care to the whole community. The clinic is staffed by two doctors and a practice nurse. The clinic works hard at building and maintaining relationships with our patients and fellow service providers based on mutual trust and respect. The clinic has a strong emphasis on ‘Closing the Gap’. The Mimosa Medical clinic is a busy practice in a vibrant, ever-changing community.
Woorabinda Multipurpose Health Service provides the following services: accident and emergency, residential aged care, acute inpatient, community health services and respite care. Visiting specialist services and clinics include women’s health, ear nose and throat, ophthalmology, paediatric and cardiology.
It is a 7 bed multi-purpose health facility.

About Woorabinda
Woorabinda is an Aboriginal community in central Queensland. The two main groups of people in Woorabinda are the Gangulu Nation and the Wadja Nation, both of whom have Native Title claims to the land. Woorabinda has a pastoral company, a hospital, a stadium, a sports complex, a swimming pool, a retail store, primary school and high school, cafe, post office and butcher shop.

My placement at Woorabinda has been truly incredible. Whilst definitely thrown in the deep end, I have learnt so much about Indigenous health, acute care with limited resources, hands-on skills, and where to look/who to call when you have minimal backup.
The doctors were fantastic. They made me feel very welcome and like it wasn't a burden to have me there. They were always friendly and respectful. Always made sure I was around for suturing and cannulation opportunities and debriefed cases with me. Learned a great mix of GP and emergency medicine as well as practical tasks, like organising pathology and sending referral letters. The whole staff was friendly and keen to teach. I felt supported and enjoyed many opportunities to learn new skills in a safe environment. I would definitely recommend Woorabinda to anyone preferencing their RRM placement.
