You're about to embark on an exciting new chapter in your career. To prepare you for starting at UQ, we've developed this getting started page, which provides you with key contact details and requirements for the MD.

The content here and on the Starting at UQ homepage will help you navigate all the new systems you will use as a UQ medical student.

Please note that all dates and times stated on this page are Australian Eastern Standard time (AEST).

1. Enrolments

The Doctor of Medicine at UQ is a four year full-time professional degree program with a continuous enrolment program requirement. To ensure you are enrolled correctly, it is recommended you enrol for the entire year once enrolments open from 18 November.

Year 1 students will need to ensure they enrol in MEDI7100 Foundations of Medicine in Semester 1 and Semester 2 of the 2025 academic year.

To enrol

  1. Log into mySI-net
  2. Complete all the required pre-enrolment tasks (addresses, etc.)
  3. Enrol in MEDI7100 for both Semester 1 and Semester 2

For information on enrolling into courses for the first time please follow the instructions on the Starting at UQ 'Enrol' page.

Why do the course start and end dates published in mySI-net not line up with the MD program Academic Calendar?

The MD program follows a longer semester schedule. Whilst the enrolment and census dates align with the wider University, you will follow the MD Academic Calendar. This calendar contains information on commencement and completion dates relevant for the MD program.
