From the Mud: Strength and Resilience

The lotus finds its way to the surface from the mud, a dark place that might be seen as challenging. It opens to a new day and appears transformed and hopeful. In my work as an art therapist, I see this symbol as one that represents the clients I work with as well as myself. As an art therapist starting in this profession in the late 90's my path was not always clear, but my hope and drive for this profession has led the way to an inner strength and resilience. I see this same inner strength and resilience in my clients, which is the legacy that continues to sustain my work.
