UQ-Ochsner Orientation and Onboarding

This section contains complete details for UQ-Ochsner students transitioning to Year 3 at the UQ-Ochsner Health Campus. 

NOTE: Students may experience difficulties accessing some of the websites needed to complete orientation and onboarding requirements, while still in Australia or outside the U.S. For many complex reasons, some sites are not always accessible everywhere in Australia. The sites are accessible on campus at St. Lucia and Herston, and anywhere in the CBD of Brisbane. Please also try using different internet browsers.

1. 2027 Orientation dates

In-person attendance at ALL orientation and onboarding activities for the Year 3 UQ-Ochsner Cohort is mandatory. Students should plan to participate in person in all scheduled sessions. Orientation and onboarding schedules will be provided directly through students' UQ  email.

  • UQ-Ochsner students beginning Year 3 should plan to arrive in New Orleans no later than Monday, 4 January 2027.
  • Onboarding events (Student Health Screening, Scrub Classes, Photography Head Shots, White Coat Distribution, etc.) are scheduled for Thursday, 7 January 2027.
  • Compulsory in-person orientation activities are scheduled for Friday, 8 January 2027, 7:45 am – 4:00 pm.
  • A Year 3 Welcome Reception is scheduled for Friday, 8 January 2027 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Ochsner Main Campus Brent House Conference Center. Guests are invited. Attendance is not required but encouraged.
  • The annual White Coat Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 9 January 2027 at 11:00 am at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center. Tickets are not required and there is no guest limit.

To assist you in preparing for your transition to Year 3 at the UQ-Ochsner Health Campus, below provides a summary of important onboarding deadlines. All dates and times are listed in US Central Time.

USMLE Step 1 Score Release and Exam Receipt Requirements

When applying for the USMLE Step 1 examination, ensure you authorize the release of your exam results to The University of Queensland by selecting "Yes" under the Additional Information section of the application. This selection is important for score reporting purposes, so please review your response carefully before submitting your registration.

After completing the examination, you will receive an embossed receipt from the Prometric Test Center. Students must request this receipt before leaving the testing center. A copy of the embossed receipt must be submitted to UQ–Ochsner Student and Academic Affairs.

Please submit the embossed Prometric Center receipt to med.ocsStudentAdmin@uq.edu.au. NOTE: A scheduling confirmation or exam appointment notice will not be accepted in place of the embossed receipt.

Failure to comply with this requirement will impact a student’s continued enrolment and progression in the program.
