The Medical School recognises that exceptional circumstances can lead to you requesting an internal transfer between Clinical Schools.

These guidelines will provide an overview of the application process and timeline for you to apply to transfer Clinical School.

6. Transfer Between Rural Clinical School and Greater Brisbane Clinical School

6.1 You are encouraged to meet with your Academic Guidance Lead to discuss your transfer request.

6.2 You must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be enrolled in the MD program (program code 5740); and
  • Be able to demonstrate exceptional circumstances that support your request.

6.3 You must provide supporting documentation and you may also be invited to participate in an interview.

6.4 You will be asked to indicate and rank order your preferred Learning Community (see Table 1 in Definitions).

6.5 Applications are assessed on an individual’s circumstances based on the information supplied and subject to availability of places. Typically, transfers will only be supported if a reciprocal request has also been received and deemed eligible (i.e. an exchange between two students).

6.6 After applications are received and assessed, eligible applications will be considered by a panel comprising:

  • Dean, Medical School (or nominee)
  • Director, Rural Clinical School, and
  • Director, Greater Brisbane Clinical School.

6.7 The panel will provide a recommendation for a final decision which is approved by the Dean, Medical School.
