How to undertake student self-guided research

  • This page is exclusively for Year 1 and Year 2 MD students who wish to learn about and take advantage of self-guided research options during their medical degree.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL 2024 YEAR 1 STUDENTS: For all research in Year 1, please follow the activities outlined on the 2024 Year 1 Research Flowchart (PDF, 128.5 KB). The Flowchart highlights all Head Start Phase 1 and Head Start Phase 2 activities. Please stay within these activities for each Phase.

If you are interested in research during your MD degree, keep up with all the information on the Student Research Portal and watch for research news and announcements on Blackboard.

These are pre-approved projects to choose from.

SUGGEST a project & supervisor.

If you’ve spoken to a researcher who has a project for you and you wish to apply for it.

 
Either way - Complete the ‘Self-guided Research Expression of Interest (EOI) Form’ and submit.
