Electrophysiology
The Electrophysiologists in the team aim to study the mechanisms of various heart rhythm disturbances and to develop new treatments for these conditions. The clinical needs addressed by their research include painless ways to defibrillate the heart, new defibrillators that address the limitations of existing devices, new modes of pacing the heart with better pacemakers, improved ways to ablate atrial fibrillation, and improved understanding of the mechanisms of ventricular arrhythmias, leading to better and earlier treatments.
