The Medical School has established the Clinical Immersion Allocation Process to manage and support the allocation of your clinical immersions throughout your program.

The Clinical Immersion Allocation Processes are designed to facilitate the equitable distribution of students to clinical immersions throughout the Academic Year and across all available Clinical Locations.

2. Allocations overview

2.1 The Medical School will publish the timeframes for the Clinical Immersion Allocation processes on the Key Dates webpage. It is your responsibility to submit applications/preferences within the required timeframe. If you do not submit by the relevant deadlines, you will have your clinical immersion terms allocated automatically.

2.2 As outlined in Section 5, students who can demonstrate extenuating circumstances may be afforded special consideration during the Clinical Immersion Allocation Processes.

2.3 All reasonable attempts will be made to accommodate student requirements and preferences, but this may not always be possible due to operational and clinical immersion requirements.

2.4 While every attempt will be made to minimise changes to the finalised allocations, it may be necessary for the Medical School to do so to meet operational requirements.

2.5 Decisions related to Clinical Immersion Allocations are administrative in nature. In accordance with the University policy on Student Grievance Resolution, it is only possible to appeal in circumstances where a student can demonstrate that the decision did not comply with the University’s policies, rules or procedures. Personal dissatisfaction is not grounds for an appeal.

2.6 The Clinical Immersion Allocation processes are administered under the direction of the Dean, Medical School (or nominee).
