MD Learning Hub St Lucia

Students

All students who attend classes at the MD Learning Hub are required to complete a local building induction. After completing of the building induction students will receive swipe card access granting them entry into the building between 6am and 11pm.

To provide opportunities to practice clinical skills, most tutorial rooms in the MD Learning Hub have an examination bed and access to clinical resources. Doctor’s kits are available to borrow from reception during Enquiries Counter opening hours.

Staff of the MD Learning Hub are variously qualified and experienced in medicine, allied health, nursing, philosophy, biomedical research, public health and education.

The MD Learning Hub employs over 100 casual tutors to facilitate small group teaching during year 1 and 2 of the MD. This teaching occurs at MD Learning Hub, Royal Brisbane Clinical Unit, PA-Southside and Mater, as well as the Francis Baron Burnett Simulation Centre at Greenslopes Hospital and the Clinical Skills Development Centre at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital campus.

Please note that we are currently not taking applications for new casual appointments. 

In addition to training provided by the MD Learning Hub, tutors are able to participate in UQ teacher training schemes and may also become involved in project work to develop teaching materials. There are also annual teaching awards for tutors in the MD.

The vision of the MD Learning Hub is to facilitate and support learning for UQ MD program students and staff. Complementary to the new MD Design curriculum and with a focus on scholarship of teaching and learning, we are pleased to introduce the new MD Learning Hub Seminar Series. These quarterly seminars will be hosted by the MD Learning Hub, St Lucia and are designed to be relevant to all staff who teach into the MD program.
