4. Complete the Unpaid Work Experience Form (UWEF)

ChecklistAfter confirming a research project with your supervisor, you must complete the UWEF. Completing the UWEF is mandatory for every medical student involved in Extra-Curricular Research.

Important: If you do not complete this form, you will not be covered by UQ's insurance whilst undertaking your Extra-Curricular Research.

Please note the conditions of the UWEF

  • Extra-Curricular Research is considered as Unpaid Work Experience by the Education (Work Experience) Act 1996.
  • Unpaid Work Experience cannot exceed more than 240 hours in one calendar year.
  • Host Organisation means where the research is located e.g., research centre, institute, clinical unit, school etc.
  • A delegate of the Host Organisation must sign this form.
  • A delegate could be the clinical unit manager, lab manager, department head or research supervisor etc.
  • Your supervisor for this project must also sign your form.

Follow the instructions for completion, including all signatures, and how to submit on the bottom of the form.

Please download the form via the link below when you need it to ensure it is the latest version. Old versions of the UWEF or incomplete forms will not be accepted and will delay your project start.

NOTE: For any research undertaken at Children’s Health Queensland (CHQ) or Mater Research, please ask your supervisor or the research governance manager for your specific UWEF. Then complete the form following the same process as described above.
