ARRL and culturing of C.burnettii from clinical specimens in Australia (2024)
Due to C.burnettii's significant transmissibility in laboratory environments,
the ARRL in Geelong is now the only lab in Australia routinely culturing for this organism.
Specimens are cultured on Vero-Cell monolayers, generally up to 6 weeks.
Accepted specimens include whole blood, serum or tissue (eg heart valve).
