Research Overview
This multi-disciplinary research program led by Dr Suzanne McDonald explores stakeholders' perspectives about using N-of-1 trials and other single-case designs in healthcare using theory-based interviews. Several stakeholder groups are recruited to participate in the interviews including healthcare professionals (e.g. general practitioners, physiotherapists, psychologists), patients, ethics board members, biostatisticians, research methodologists/clinical trialists, health research funders, and journal editors. The interviews are based on the Theoretical Domain Framework and focus on eliciting views about barriers and facilitators to implementing N-of-1 trials/single-case designs in healthcare.
