The AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program allows you to search and apply for clinical, research, and public health opportunities. You will have access to many resources, cross-cultural tools, and information on engaging in a global health experience.

The VSLO Application Service (VSAS) provides an easy, streamlined application process that is accepted by all Collaborative Institutions. Once we have granted you access to VSAS, you will be welcomed to a burgeoning community that shares ideas and shapes global perspectives.  In addition to the actual health professions learning opportunities, the VSLO community will assist you with advice from host institutions and medical students and offers numerous resources for supporting your overseas travel and temporary stay.

The VSLO collaborating institutions are located in North America, South America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Africa.  Clinical rotations and optional electives may be in rural clinics in lesser-resourced settings in urban hospitals, or in high tech research labs.  For a detailed list of participating institutions, please visit the VSLO website

Please remember:

Every institution has specific criterion that students must meet before undertaking a medical placement. Students must ensure that they can comply with all requirements before applying, as significant costs could occur. The Faculty of Medicine can assist in certain aspects of host institution requirements, but the responsiblity remains with the student.
