
Bio
Katherine has worked for the Master of Mental Health for several years and is currently a research supervisor for Art Therapy students completing their independent research projects. She has Grad Dip Ed, Bachelor of Arts, AThR (ANZACATA & AATA) and completed her Master of Mental Health (Art Therapy). Katherine’s portfolio career combines her long-term human-resource management experience with her academic and art therapy practice. She currently combines her role as a strategic HR manager with private art therapy practice and academia. In the University of Queensland’s Master of Mental Health Program, Art Therapy, Katherine led the research course for three years and has been supervising students in their independent research for six years.
Interests
Katherine’s primary interest is in supporting clients, individually or in groups, to promote psychological well-being. Her experience includes working with young refugees and asylum seekers, and developmentally complex adolescents. In her art therapy practice she adopts trauma-informed and mindfulness-based approaches with women and children coping with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and life transitions. Katherine also supports workgroups to build resilience, and psychological safety and well-being.
