Master of Mental Health Psychotherapy posters 2025
The psychotherapy research projects represent the depth, diversity and reflective practice at the heart of the Master of Mental Health program. Working within an intentionally small cohort, students undertake research that invites them to explore meaningful questions in mental health. Their work is informed by contemporary psychotherapy, lived experience and emerging scholarship.
At the beginning of their research journey, students are encouraged to reflect on their own assumptions, values and clinical perspectives. They consider the paradigms that shape how they understand mental health and how these perspectives influence their approach to inquiry. This reflective foundation allows students to design projects that are thoughtful, authentic and grounded in the complexities of human experience.
The resulting projects span a wide range of topics. These include therapeutic approaches for individuals with disability and chronic health conditions, the experiences of the lived-experience mental health workforce, forgiveness as a psychotherapeutic intervention for trauma in adolescence, specific attachment patterns and their influence on relationships, the mental health experiences associated with the menstrual cycle, adolescent wellbeing in digital environments, the challenges African immigrants encounter when accessing mental health care, and the emotional impact of migration experienced by culturally and linguistically diverse clinicians. Many of these areas remain under researched in the broader literature, and the students’ work contributes to emerging conversations in the field.
Each project reflects curiosity, compassion and a commitment to understanding mental health through multiple lenses. Together, the projects highlight the value of diverse perspectives and the importance of ongoing research that supports responsive, culturally attuned and person centred approaches to mental health care.
These projects exemplify the integrity, insight and dedication students bring to their work, and we are proud to showcase their contributions.
