Welcome to the UQ-Ochsner Doctor of Medicine program
What to expect
You will be welcomed in person by Professor Ronald Amedee, Director of the Ochsner Clinical School, and Carl Tholen, Vice President of Medical Education and Chief Administrative Officer at Ochsner Clinical School, as they officially introduce you to the UQ-Ochsner MD program.
The session also includes:
- the chance to meet your Ochsner Medical Student Association (OMSA) representatives and connect with your fellow Year 1 and 2 classmates
- a casual pizza social will follow the formal presentations.
About the event
This event marks an important milestone in your med school journey as a UQ-Ochsner student and is strongly encouraged for all commencing students.
To make things easy, this event takes place immediately after the Welcome to Brisbane activities, in the same location, so you can attend both without needing to travel between venues.
About MD Orientation 2026
Congratulations on reaching the next important stage of your medical education journey. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at our multiple clinical schools across Queensland.
We have put together a diverse schedule of activities to introduce you to the University, medical program and what to expect during your studies. Throughout the first 3 weeks, you will engage with key members of the Medical School community, including Directors of our Clinical Schools, as well as a broad range of academic and professional staff. . Each of these people will play a key role in your learning and development as a future medical practitioner. There will also be opportunities to meet student representatives as well as other students in your cohort.
