This event is for all MD Year 1 students based at UQ St Lucia only.
Together with Professor Dan Chambers, Mayne Chair of Medicine and the UQ Medical Society (UQMS) President, Professor Stuart Carney, Dean, Medical School is looking forward to officially welcoming you to the MD program.
When: Monday 3 February 2025, 8:45 am arrival (for 9am start) – 11:30am
Where: Auditorium (room 200), Advanced Engineering Building (Building 49), St Lucia campus
Following the welcome event there will be morning tea as well as an MD Expo. The Expo will be an opportunity for you to network with fellow students and talk to a range of University and Medical School teams and services, and various clubs and societies, including:
- Medical School Student Support Team (MSST);
- MD Learning Hub;
- Medical School Work Integrated Learning (WIL) team;
- UQ Immunisation team;
- UQ Sport;
- UQ Ventures;
- UQMS and more.
This is a significant milestone and important event for all commencing MD students to attend.
About MD Orientation 2025
Congratulations on reaching the next important stage of your medical education journey. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at our multiple clinical schools across Queensland.
We have put together a diverse schedule of activities to introduce you to the University, medical program and what to expect during your studies. Throughout the first four weeks, you will engage with key members of the Medical School community, including the Director of the Academy for Medical Education, the Directors of our Clinical Schools, as well as a broad range of academic and professional staff. Each of these people will play a key role in your learning and development as a future medical practitioner. There will also be opportunities to meet student representatives as well as other students in your cohort.
