Background

Dr. David Galarneau was born in Troy, New York, the home of Uncle Sam, and completed high school and college in the “collar city” as well. Then it was down to The Big Apple for medical school and psychiatry residency, as well as one additional year post-training. In 2006, he relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, and has been with Ochsner Medical System ever since. Dr. Galarenau is currently the Medical Director of the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, as well as the Director of the Undergraduate Medical Education Program in Psychiatry for the Ochsner Clinical School.  He has special interests in inpatient psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, undergraduate and graduate medical education, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Dr. Galarneau is interested primarily in clinical research involving inpatient psychiatry and addiction psychiatry.
