Kelvin grew up in Hong Kong and attended the University of California, Davis.

Before becoming a medical student at the UQ/Ochsner program, Kelvin worked at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital as a research assistant.

He has contributed to several publications.

Research

  • Kelvin’s research seeks to develop a panel of microRNA to detect early-stage Non Small Cell Lung Carcinoma (NSCLC) through a non-invasive method.
  • Currently, Low Does Helical Computed Tomography (LDCT) is the only screening test able to reduce NSCLC mortality rate with a 96% false positive.
  • A panel of miRNA will provide a sensitive and specific non-invasive way to screen for early NSCLC and thus potentially reduce mortality of NSCLC.
