Associate Professor Marie-Louise Dick was awarded her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1993, and a Masters of Public Health at The University of Queensland (UQ) in 1997. She commenced employment as a Lecturer in General Practice at The University of Queensland in 1995, and for the next 21 years, devoted most of her academic career to the development and delivery of the medical (MBBS) program. Her roles and responsibilities at UQ included various periods of time as Chair of the Population & Preventive Health Domain - one of four domains of learning in the 4-year post-graduate medical program, Academic Coordinator of the Year 3 General Practice Rotation, Academic Coordinator for the Urban LInCC Project, and Acting and / or Deputy Head of the Discipline of General Practice. Her research interests in recent years have focused on medical education. Marie-Louise's contributions to teaching and learning were acknowledged with a University of Queensland Teaching Excellence Award in 2007, and an Australian Teaching and Learning Council National Teaching Excellence Award in 2008.  She retired from her UQ appointment in December 2015, but continues her association with UQ and the Discipline of General Practice in her Honorary Associate Professor role.
