In March 2023, MDANZ and AMC collaborated in a highly successful Australia-NZ-wide workshop, Building Capacity in Clinical Item-Writing.

A follow-up workshop, Using Generative-AI to Support Clinical Item Writing, is to be held on Thursday 14 March 2024.   The University of Queensland’s Academy for Medical Education has nominated to be the host of a Hub for this event at the Herston campus. This event is not limited to UQ and is open to anyone interested in developing their understanding in this area.

This workshop will showcase the benefits of using Generative-AI to develop multiple-choice clinical exam questions and provide techniques in effective prompting for optimal results. There will be a strong focus on best practice in quality assurance of clinical items to ensure accuracy and will share ways to improve the discrimination and difficulty of items to a standard appropriate for medical students.
