Professor Jenny Batch
"Clinical Academics: Bridging Research and Clinical Practice"
Professor Jennifer Batch

Jenny is a Graduate of the UQ Medical School and undertook paediatric training in Brisbane. From 1988 until 1992 Jenny trained in paediatric Endocrinology at RCH Melbourne completing a research MD followed by postdoctoral research in the Department of Paediatrics, University of Cambridge UK. In 1997, following 5 years working at the University of Melbourne, Jenny was appointed as the FCH Foundation Variety Professor of Paediatrics at UQ and the Director of Endocrinology and Diabetes at RCH Brisbane. Jenny was also the inaugural Director of Research at RCH Brisbane. In these roles Jenny focussed on building a clinical department with a strong basis in academic medicine, teaching and research. Jenny has supervised numerous local and international Fellows, 8 of whom have completed PhDs, and has also supervised Masters and B Med Sci students. In addition Jenny has supervised a number of research assistants and research nurses and has collaborated with other departments at UQ and RCH/QCH as well as international collaborations. 


Professor Soo Keat Khoo 
Professor Soo Keat Khoo

Emeritus Professor SooKeat Khoo graduated in medicine from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours and a University Medal. He pursued a long career in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with special interest in immunobiology of genital cancer, contraception and impact of ageing on women’s health. He was appointed to the First Chair and later Head of Discipline in the University of Queensland. He also held the position of Director of Gynaecology in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Brisbane. He was the inaugural Chair of the Asia-Pacific Council in Contraception, where he led developments to bring education and training in reproductive health to countries in the region. In 2000, he was recognised for his “contributions to medicine as a teacher, researcher, administrator and clinician” with Membership of the Order of Australia.
