Timetable preferencing
Year 2 timetable preferencing
- Year 2 medical students only need to submit a preference for CSBL (TUT1) group in MEDI7200.
- Rank your preferred timetable pathways in order.
- You can change your preferences anytime during the 4-day preferencing period.
- Students can only preference CSBL groups assigned to their Learning Community.
Once you are assigned to a timetable pathway:
- All other classes will be added to your timetable after the swap period.
The My Timetable Planner tool does not support MD students.
Use the Year 2 Timetable Pathway links above for all the information you need to submit your preferences.
Timetable allocations
- The system will allocate you to your highest possible preference.
- Not all students will receive their first choice.
- If you do not submit a preference, the system will assign you to a timetable pathway within your Learning Community where space is available.
To create a balanced learning environment, allocations consider:
- Gender distribution
- Program (MD and MD Ochsner)
- Admission group (international/domestic)
Tip: Preference up to 10 different groups for the best chance of getting your preferred timetable.
Timetable swap
After CSBL allocations are released, there will be a swap period:
- Opens: Midday, Friday 12 December 2025
- Closes: Midday, Monday 15 December 2025
During this time, you can allocate yourself into another timetable pathway within your Learning Community if:
- there is space in the group you want
- you meet the demographic configuration.
To swap:
- Log in to My Timetable
- Select TUT1
- Groups with space will show an “Allocate” button.
(Allocating to a new group means you give up your original spot.)
If your preferred group is full:
- Click the heart icon next to the group number to join the swap waitlist
- If another student wants to swap into your current group, the system will process the swap
- Important: The heart function does not guarantee a swap. It only works if a matching swap occurs
- Keep checking your timetable during the swap period for available spaces.
After the swap period closes, you cannot re-allocate yourself.
Travel information
Travel time between St Lucia Campus and clinical units is factored into timetable pathways:
- 30 minutes → PA-Southside & Mater Clinical Units
- 60 minutes → Royal Brisbane Clinical Unit & Greenslopes Clinical Unit
- 90 minutes → QEII Hospital & Prince Charles Hospital Clinical Unit
Public Transport Options:
- Brisbane City Council bus service (M2) runs frequently between UQ Lakes Station and RBWH Station, stopping at three hospital sites.
- For Greenslopes, the 169 bus service travels between UQ Lakes Station and Greenslopes Station.
Rural students will have a 30-minute travel period between the clinical unit and partner university.
